Bestätignungsfragen werden im Englischen dazu verwendet, seinen Gesprächspartner dazu aufzufordern, einen Kommentar zum Gesagten abzugeben. Dies ist für Englisch lernende Deutsche oft ein kleines Problem, weil im Deutschen einfach ’nicht wahr‘ an den Satz angehängt wird. Die englische Sprache unterscheidet hier genauer. Je nachdem, ob ein verneinter oder bejahter Satz vorliegt muss, die Bestätigungsfrage im umgekehrten Sinn gestellt werden. Das ‚question tag‘ orientiert sich hierbei in Zahl, Tempus und Person am Hauptsatz: zum Beispiel: You like football, don’t you? You don’t live live in Munich, do you?
