Only, even if you didn\u00b4t come to talk, a minimum of conversation may come in handy.<\/p>\n<p>The two most important things in a beer tent are, you might have guessed,<em> beer<\/em> and, not so obvious,<em> chicken<\/em>.\u00a0 The German or better Bavarian terms being, <em>Ma\u00df<\/em> as quantifier for one metric liter of <em>beer <\/em>and <em>Hendl<\/em> for <em>chicken<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The pronouciation is easy for English speakers.\u00a0 <em>Ma\u00df<\/em> is pronounced like the English <em>mass <\/em>the British way and <em>Hendl<\/em> like <em>handle<\/em> only like <em>hen<\/em> at the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>But man doesn`t live by bread alone and a little interpersonal skills won\u00b4t do no harm. The second most important good at the Oktoberfest right after beer are said to be <em>females<\/em>, the Bavarian identifier being <em>Madl<\/em>, pronounced like <em>meddle<\/em>, only like<em> master<\/em>, again the British way, at the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>Bavarian <em>men<\/em>, even of Schwarzeneggerian dimensions do not take offence in being called <em>boy<\/em>, the South German term for which being<em> Bua<\/em>, pronounced like <em>boar<\/em>.
