Um im Englischen idiomatisch auszudrücken, dass man Schneid hat, gibt es viele Möglichkeiten.
Eine bezieht sich zum Beispiel auf die Behältnissse der männlichen Erbinformation (to have balls), was verständlich ist, sind diese doch gemeinhin Synonym sind für Männlichkeit und Testosteron. Eine weitere Variante ist, to have the guts, auch hier liegt der Gedankensprung nicht allzu weit, schließlich geht nicht nur die Liebe durch den Magen.

Ein bischen Stirnrunzeln kann der Ausdruck “to have the bottle” hervorrufen, deren Ursprung wohl nicht ganz unzweideutig ist. Die naheliegendste Erklärung ist wohl, dass mancher sich den Mut aus der Flasche besorgt.
