to rat out = sich aus dem Staub machen

to rat on sb. = jemanden verpfeifen

z.B.: Jimmy is in danger he ratted on a Mafia boss.

to rat around = herumlungern, faulenzen

z.B.: Quit ratting around, there´s enough work to be done.

to smell a rat = etwas ist nicht ganz koscher

z.B.: Something´s wrong here, I can smell a rat.

not to give a rat´s ass = scheissegal sein

z.B.: Jimmy´s really indefferent, he doesn´t give a rat´s ass.

a pack rat = jemand mit kompulsivem Sammlerdrang
